The Mountain

Nepal: Mountains
I see before me now a traveling army halting,
Below a fertile valley spread, with barns and the orchards of summer,
Behind, the terraced sides of a mountain, abrupt, in places rising high,
Broken, with rocks, with clinging cedars, with tall shapes dingily seen,
The numerous camp-fires scatter'd near and far, some away up on the mountain,
The shadowy forms of men and horses, looming, large-sized,flickering,
And over all the sky-the sky! far, far out of reach, studded,
breaking out, the eternal stars.

Nature's Playground

DSC00517
You hear the wind blow,
You hear the leaves rustle,
You hear the water sway,
All of the sounds that you hear...
Are nature at play!

The Wonderful World

nepal1
Great, wide, beautiful, wonderful World,
With the wonderful water round you curled,
And the wonderful grass upon your breast,
World, you are beautifully dressed.

The wonderful air is over me,
And the wonderful wind is shaking the tree
It walks on the water, and whirls the mills,
And talks to itself on the top of the hills.

You friendly Earth, how far do you go,
With the wheat fields that nod and the rivers that flow,
With cities and gardens and cliffs and isles,
And the people upon you for thousands of miles?

Ah! you are so great, and I am so small,
I hardly can think of you, World, at all;
And yet, when I said my prayers today,
My mother kissed me, and said, quite gay,

"If the wonderful world is great to you,
And great to Father and Mother, too,
You are more than the Earth, though you are such a dot!
You can love and think, and the Earth cannot!"

Your "Sleeping Beauty"

nepalnn
I tried and tried to stay awake
to have my picture taken.
But I was so very tired that
I couldn't be awakened.
This whole day was so exciting,
I guess it was too much for me.
So I shut my eyes to take a rest,
and slept too sound, you see.
Yet I hope that my photo
will bring everyone great pleasure,
And as years pass by, and I grow up,
my photo you'll always treasure.

Life is a Photographs

sunset
I took a little time today,
to reminisce of yesterday.
To review our lives in the past
recorded here in photographs.

As I page through the years,
Sometimes I may shed some tears.
So many faces I have known,
some passed away and others grown.

Sometimes it's hard to realize,
when all spread out before my eyes,
With all the pictures that I took,
our whole lives are in this book.

A Sweet Slice of Summer

Green Seen in Nepal
A sweet slice of summer,
On a hot a afternoon,

The perfect treat to eat outside,
You don’t even need a spoon.

As you take a big old bite,
Feel the juice begin to run,

Be careful not to eat the seeds,
You spit those out, for fun!

A slice of watermelon,
Just can’t be beat,

It is the taste of summer,
Juicy and sweet!

Mountain of Nepal

Green Seen mountain of Nepal
You ask me why I live on Green Mountain ?
I smile in silence and the quiet mind.
Peach petals blow on mountain streams
To earths and skies beyond All over the land.

Fishtail Mountain

Fishtail
Slowly as the sun sneaks out of dark horizons,
the dissolving veil of night seems to evaporate.
In reaction to sunbeam's tickling it's rock-ice face,
Fishtail displays its blazing blood-red grimace.
The crimson aura gathered off the starboard soon
fades to a tint of magnificent gold, and then to silver,
as dawn matures, radiates to a breathtaking crystal azure.

Serenity-swathed surroundings give an air of fluid
self-meditation but breaking the silence emerge
baby ducks--quack-quack-quack--flocking the water,
bringing to mind a harbinger of the first dawn.

The majestic mountain looks down it's own reflection onto
the horizontal mirror of Lake Fewa's blue-green surface.
Awed by the vista, I sit by an aromatic wildflower across
I listen to the soothing orchestra of pebbles--plip-plop-plip--
as I toss them one after another on the Lake's membrane,
chipping thin slices of water as they bounce in dieing
trajectories, finally, tumbling down under, searching for
Fishtail's scarlet, gold, and silver that just disappeared

A Memory

pokhara tour 393
Four ducks on a pond,
A grass bank beyond,
A blue sky of spring,
White clouds on the wing;
What a little thing
To remember for years--
To remember with tears!

Let Me Go

natures playground1
We've known lots of pleasure,
At times endured pain,
We've lived in the sunshine
And walked in the rain.

But now we're separated
And for a time apart,
But I am not alone-
You're forever in my heart.

Death always seems so sudden,
And it is always sure,
But what is oft' forgotten-
It is not without a cure.

I'm walking now with someone,
And I know He'll always stay,
I know He's walking with you too,
Giving comfort everyday.

There may be times you miss me,
I sort of hope you do,
But smile when you think of me,
For I'll be waiting for you.

Now there's many things for you to do,
And lots of ways to grow,
So get busy, be happy, and live your life,
Miss me, but let me go.
